*What is Nishijin-ori?
"Nishijin" is a registered trademark of the Nishijin Textile Industrial Association. There is no administrative district called Nishijin, but the so-called Nishijin district refers to the area around Kamigyo Ward and Kita Ward, roughly bounded by Marutamachi-dori to the south, Kamigamo-dori to the north, Karasuma-dori to the east, and Nishioji-dori to the west. Businesses involved in Nishijin textiles are concentrated in the northwestern part of Kyoto city.
